Below is some of the 'workings out on the napkin' of how things were put together...
kind of behind the scenes.
I am going to dedicate this site to my first Computer Science Teacher, who I had when I was 13, Mr Akwa, he was really such a funny guy...and we used to double up laughing, and I probably learnt any semblance of patience from enrolling on that course that actually consisted of binary numbers and other Mathematical tricks....but after moaning week after week...we did eventually make the trip to a local college...RIP Joe Akwa.

This show is dedicated to the original rebel-spirit of the Jamaican people at this important time in the National identity of the Island. This spirit that was expressed in the music I, and many black young people heard as children growing up in Britain.....Jimmy Cliff.....Bob Marley...Al Campbell and many more...that instilled in us from a young age, a sense of 'what we thought and felt' within ourselves as people of African origin, was important. |
JAMAICA JAMAICA ART & CULTURE SHOW
An independent space for Black VISUAL Artists...launching off with a special two-month feature on JAMAICA. The social, economic and cultural significance of Jamaica, should not be undermined...in terms of its national character, history and worldwide contribution, in the positive sense...from the great leaders and historians, through to the modern epoch and REGGAE music...Rebel music....People music....Oh! the people can't put it down....but as the expression of the 'hearing Arts' is a good thing...there is also a quieter art...the visual arts...this form too needs a little space....as it itself affords a little head room to those who make it...allowing the mind to refresh and rejuvenate. Creating new perspectives and world views.
So this site will while, primarily being about visual art will also feature some relevant Musical contributions. And if you are of the more poetic variety of flower, then get in touch too. |
